About Us

Our names are Vivienne and Sunni. We met 5 years ago, working together at a doggy daycare. We were brought together by our shared love for animals. Vivienne adopted Sammy a year prior to that. We began our family together when we bought our house in 2021 and adopted Buggy shortly after. Sammy was the inspiration behind our vision. She spent the first 7 years of her life neglected and abused. We promised her that the rest of her life would be happiness and adventure. With us both working full time, having time to take Sammy exploring more than once a week was difficult. Having worked with pet parents over the years, we both know many others struggle with this. Sammy’s Adventure Bus was born from the idea that every dog deserves to get out and play, in a way that is convenient and accessible for their pawrents. Between animal shelters, grooming shops, doggy daycares, and vet clinics, we have a combined 16 years of experience working with dogs. Animals are both of our lives passions.

Our Crew

  • Vivienne Heartfern

    Adventure Coordinator

My love for dogs goes back as far as I can remember. I begin working with animals when I was a teenager, volunteering for a local animal shelter, where I learned the fundamentals of canine care including basic handling and behavior. I furthered my animal career when I started working in the dog grooming and doggy daycare industry. I have spent the last 10 years working with dogs in many different capacities. I adopted Sammy in 2018 when she was surrendered to a grooming shop I was working in. She changed my life, and further ignited my passion for animals. Nothing has brought me more joy in life than the work I have done with dogs.

  • Sunni Heartfern

    Adventure Coordinator

I have 6 years of professional experience with dogs. I’ve gained my knowledge through my work in animal healthcare as well as animal hospitality. There is nothing closer to my heart than canine health and well-being. I was born and raised in the Rogue Valley. Throughout my life I have spent as much time as possible exploring the trails of Southern Oregon. I am a fur mama of three sweet pups and a clowder of 4 cats. I have always been surrounded by animals. Sammy’s Adventure Bus is a culmination of my love for the outdoors and my adoration for our furry companions.

  • Sammy

Retired CAO - Chief Adventure Officer

Sammy was the inspiration behind our business. She adventured with our crew for 5 years. She loved running on the beach, hiking, chasing a tennis ball, bossing around her cat sisters, and cuddling with her brother, Buggy. Sammy crossed the rainbow bridge a few short months after launching her business. She left a lasting impact in ours and so many others lives. Her memory lives on in her business. She will be forever loved and missed.

    Rest in Peace 12/1/2010 - 4/17/2023

  • Buggy

AttCAO - Assistant to the Chief Adventure Officer

Buggy is a senior staff member at about 13 years young. He joined our crew 2 years ago. He loves cuddles, napping, comfy blankets, and treats. Although he is not much of a hiker, he is our crew’s biggest hype man. His favorite part of the outdoors is the nap he gets to take when he gets home.

  • Ripple

    CEO - Chief Evaluation Officer

Ripple is our "niece". She is in charge of meeting all of the potential Group Adventure Crew members during their Meet and Greet. Ripple is the happiest girl in the world, and loves just about everything and everyone. Her favorite things to do are splash in puddles, run around with her husky friends, and give hugs.

  • Junior & Beef

    Investors

Beef is 5 years old, and Junior is 15, they are our hospice dogs. They both had rough lives before they came to us. After adopting her, we learned Beef has a heart condition that prevents her from exercising. The two of them now happily spend their days cuddling on the couch. They love snacks, snuggles, and sun bathing. While they may not be adventure dogs, they invest all of their love into the business.

About the bus

Our Adventure Bus is a 2008 Ford Shuttle Bus that we converted to be the perfect dog transport vehicle. We do all of our pick ups and drop offs for Adventures in the bus!

The dogs travel in kennels that have been secured to the floor for their safety. They love watching out the big windows while we drive!

Our utility rack carries our leashes, waist packs, cleaning supplies, first aid kit, and water station. The cooler keeps water cold and fresh for the pups!

Some of Sammy’s ashes travel with us in a stone necklace. She comes on every adventure with us and watches over her bus.
